Talpiot. Eines der „anderen Jerusalems“. Im Südosten der Stadt gelegen. Ich bin oft in das Viertel rausgefahren, weil zwei Tänzerinnen hier geprobt haben, in einem Capoeira-Trainingsraum, direkt neben dem „Yellow Submarine“, dem bekanntesten Musik-Club der Stadt. Unaufhörliches Hupen drang von draußen rein, das Gebäude liegt direkt an der Autowerkstatt-Straße Jerusalems. Talpiot ließ mich an eine Mischung aus New Jersey und Vororten Thessalonikis denken, mit ihren Discount-Outlets und Hallen, die für große Familienfeiern oder Hochzeiten gemietet werden können. Talpiot. One of the „other Jerusalems“. In the southeastern region of the town. I was quite often there. Two dancers, Sara and Tamara, whose rehearsals I photographed, had to drive to this part of town. They danced in a building directly besides the „Yellow Submarine“, probably the most famous music-club in town. While they danced in a room usually used by Capoeira-Fighters, the sound of car horns penetrated the space, as the building is located on a street with one garage after another. To me Talpiot seemed like a mixture of New Jersey and the industrial zones of Thessaloniki, with all its discount-outlets and halls, huge spaces for large gatherings of family and friends.
