Weiss nicht, ob die Spannungen stärker, greifbarer sind, seitdem Raketen aus dem Gaza in Richtung Israel geflogen sind. Mir fehlt der Vergleich. Polizei und Militär sind jedenfalls sehr präsent in der Altstadt, und die hier lebenden Palästinenser tun mehrheitlich so, als registrierten sie sie nicht. Als wären sie Luft. Vorgestern aber sah ich einen vielleicht 20jährigen, der an einer Militärstreife (darunter eine Frau) dicht vorbeiging und den drei Schwerbewaffneten verbal etwas entgegen schleuderte, das nicht sehr freundlich klang. Das Ganze so schnell, dass ich gar nicht zum Fotografieren kam. Die Streife ging weiter, als wäre nichts geschehen, als wäre er Luft.

I don’t know if the tensions are stronger in Jerusalem since rockets shot from Gaza hit Israeli soil. It’s my first time in Israel and I can’t compare. There’s a strong presence of police and military in Jerusalem Old Town, but maybe not more so than before the attacks. The Palestinians seem to ignore them, pretending to be totally unaware of their presence. But two days ago I witnessed a strange incident as a maybe 20 years old Palestinian passed close by a heavily armed military patrol and shouted something towards them that didn’t seem too friendly. As I guessed by the look of his face. It happened so fast, I could not take a picture. The three soldiers (one of them female) just went on, as if nothing had happened, pretending to be unaware of his presence.
